Poinsettias and Greens Sale

Cylburn Greenhouses: 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.

The annual Poinsettia and Greens sale will be held in the Cylburn Greenhouses during the weekend of December 9-11.   The doors will open at 10 a.m. and will close at 2 p.m.   Grown right in the Cylblurn Greenhouses, a variety of poinsettias in pink, red, white and novelty colors will be available for your holiday decorating needs. Several sizes will be available. Balsam wreaths, pine ropes and other greens will also be available for purchase during the sale. Call the Horticulture Division at 410-396-0180 for more information.

Cylburn Mansion

We’ve decked the halls with boughs of holly….so don ye gay apparel!   Enjoy the afternoon and usher in the holiday with a high tea at the Victorian Cylburn Mansion.  Gilman School’s Traveling Men, a capella singing group, will serenade you as you enjoy a selection of teas, sandwiches and sweets.   The mansion decorations are courtesy of the District IV Federated Garden Clubs of Maryland.   $40 for members; $45 for non-members   Call 410-367-2217 to make a reservation.

Join Story Hour teacher Ellen Perlman for an hour of books and activities related to nature. Ms. Perlman has an extensive background in education and a love of nature. Ms. Perlman is a Montessori certified teacher. Reservations are required. 410-367-2217  $1 per person and/or donations appreciated.

Wreath making workshop
6:30 p.m.- 8:30 p.m.
Greenhouse Classroom

Create unique, festive boxwood wreaths to usher in the holiday season led by Cylburn Gardener Pat Sherman.  Ms. Sherman is an experienced wreath-maker.   Included in the price is a soft touch double rail clamp-on ring used to construct the wreaths.  The frame is reusable.   Make this workshop a holiday tradition!   Wreath size: 24 inches   $30 per wreath for members;  $35 per wreath for non-members.  $20 for each additional wreath.   Reservations required.

Boxwood Tree Workshop 
10 a.m.- 12 noon.
Greenhouse Classroom

Build a unique, long lasting tree from fresh boxwood!  Decorate it with simple glass ball ornaments and bows!  Set it in your favorite Christmas spot!  Or give it as a very special, hand-made gift.  Your instructor Ann Oster, artist and retired middle school art teacher, has been building and decorating boxwood trees for many years.    $30 per tree for members;  $35 for non-members. Reservations required. 410-367-2217.

Kissing Ball workshop
