Woodland Trails
Volunteer Opportunity
Goal of Position: To assist in maintaining Cylburn's 3.5 miles of woodland trails.
Sample Activities:
- Trim branches that overhang the trails
- Remove non-native invasive weeds
- Propagate native plants
- Replant areas where weeds were removed
Timeframe:
Number of Volunteers: Open
Length of Commitment: Minimum of 8 months (growing season)
Estimated Total Hours: 2.5 hours per week
Worksite: Cylburn Arboretum Woodlands
Qualifications Sought:
- Interest in identifying plants
- Ability to work in small groups - teamwork and cooperation is a must
- Ability to navigate the trails, use various gardening tools, and bend and pull weeds
- Interest in a wide variety of plants (previous knowledge helpful but not necessary)
