Woodland Trails Volunteer Opportunity

Goal of Position: To assist in maintaining Cylburn's 3.5 miles of woodland trails.
Sample Activities:

  • Trim branches that overhang the trails
  • Remove non-native invasive weeds
  • Propagate native plants
  • Replant areas where weeds were removed

Timeframe:
Number of Volunteers: Open
Length of Commitment: Minimum of 8 months (growing season)
Estimated Total Hours: 2.5 hours per week

Worksite: Cylburn Arboretum Woodlands
Qualifications Sought:

  • Interest in identifying plants
  • Ability to work in small groups - teamwork and cooperation is a must
  • Ability to navigate the trails, use various gardening tools, and bend and pull weeds
  • Interest in a wide variety of plants (previous knowledge helpful but not necessary)
