Woody Plant Nursery Maintenance
Position Description
Goal of Position :
Maintain quality of woody plants in production at the Cylburn greenhouses.
Sample Activities :
Inventory and organize the woody plants in production in both the nursery area and the greenhouses. Maintain the woody plants through weeding, repotting, pruning, feeding, etc. Possible propagation or other acquisitions may be included.
Timeframe :
Number of Volunteers: 1 or 2
Length of Commitment: Year round
Estimated Total Hours: 2 - 6 per week
Scheduling: At the discretion of the volunteer (after training, same day/time)
Worksite : Cylburn Arboretum Greenhouses
Qualifications Sought :
- Ability to work independently after training
- Some knowledge of woody plants and the ability to use reference books is helpful
- Ability to pay attention to details/accuracy of spelling, inventory numbers, etc.

Additional Information :
Ideally, this volunteer will work the same day and time each week, but will not be limited to business hours after initial training. In the beginning, this job will include “catching up” a backlog of work, but will settle into a routine with some seasonal flexibility in scheduling.
